FAQs About Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka can even serve as an all-year-round travel destination depending on where you want to visit. October to March is ideal for the western and southern coastlines, March for the hills and April for the north and east.

The weather is mostly sunny and humid and wonderful for a vacation. Just beware of the south-west monsoon from April to June and the north-east monsoon from November to December.

The locals are usually dressed in white clothing covering the entire body. Visitors can stick to light colours and modest clothing covering knees and shoulders when entering religious places.

Sinhala and Tamil are the two commonly used languages in Sri Lanka. However, most locals do understand and speak in English as well.

The currency used on the island is the Sri Lankan Rupee. Global credit cards can be used for payments in some instances.

The local cuisine is quite spicy. If you aren’t into spicy food though, all hotels and some restaurants serve international cuisine. Fast food is an option too.
