Civilization One

Civilization One started its journey in 2006 and was formed by singer Chitral “Chity” Somapala and guitarist Aldo Lanobile from Secret Sphere. The band consists of various artists from countries like France, Brazil, Italy and Sri Lanka.
The debut album was produced by the band itself and was titled, “Revolution Rising”. It was recorded in studios in Germany, Italy and France and mixed by Markus Teske in Germany at the Bazement Studios.

The main motive of Chity and Aldo, when forming the band was to produce music that is aggressive yet meaningful. They wanted to feature music with unforgettable vocals and choruses.

However, the long distances and many other barriers made it difficult for the band members to perform live together. Therefore the line up of Civilization One started to change during the latter stages of 2007. During the changes that took place in the line-up, Civilization One obtained the interest of the presenters and the first bookings for the initial festivals in 2008.

Civilization One, performed at the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre (SLECC) on the 29th of November 2008 during the TNL Onstage Finals held in Colombo.

It was the first time that a heavy metal band from the west performed in Sri Lanka. It also marked the homecoming of the Sri Lankan-born singer Chity Somapala who has lived in Europe for 22 years and is famed for composing the famous song “Nadee Ganga” for "Lion Beer’ advert.

TNL Onstage featured some of the finest bands in Sri Lanka along with Civilization One.  It was the first show that the band performed with new members Michael Stein on drums who was a former Ancient Ceremony and Dornreich member, and Kai Mühlenbruch from Galloglass and Seventh Avenue, on guitar.
The band is now well in place and all set to achieve the musical vision of Chity and Aldo.
