Location & Map of Galle

Galle is situated in southern Sri Lanka, and holds its geographical coordinates at 6° 3' 13" North, 80° 12' 42" East. Galle is situated about 120km south of Colombo, and can be reached in about four hours time from the Bandaranaike International Airport if travelled by a private vehicle.

The trip to Galle from Colombo will lie along the coastal area of the island named as the Galle road, where the travellers take in the scenic beauty of sand and sea. The main attraction in Galle that is the Galle Dutch Fort lies in the walking distance from the town itself. Furthermore, the Galle International Cricket Stadium that is famous among the cricket-playing nations and the Galle harbour are also located in the heart of the Galle town.

The other attractions such as the Unawatuna beach, the longest bridge of the country (Wakwella bridge), and temples of religious and historic value are located away from the town, but can be accessed easily.
