You can call 1990 at any time for emergency government-run ambulance services. These will take you to the nearest hospital or medical facility. You can also simply ask people on the road directions to the nearest medical facility. Words like “Doctor” or “Hospital” are easily understood by most of the locals and they’ll be happy to point you in the right direction.

The best equipped private hospitals are found in Colombo, Galle and Kandy. These will offer you the best possible service and ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible. Large government-run hospitals can be found in Kurunegala and Kandy alternatively.
