Ella Town

Nestled in between a surreal expanse of wilderness, Ella is a sleepy little town as many have put it. It is set amidst surreal mountains and valleys below – its surroundings are tranquil and even the locals here are very hospitable and friendly. They are pretty content with the way they live; this is also one of the most inspiring things about the residents of this town.

Ella is full of not only tea plantations but a plethora of terraced landscaped dotted with greens of vegetable patches as well – potatoes, tomatoes, onions, and many other vegetables are grown here. For those looking out for a party scene, Ella town is not the place that allows you to feed your nightlife cravings of loud music and bar hopping. Instead, the nightlife is very laid back in Ella town with just a handful of restaurants that serve up western-style food and a few bars and cafes here and there.

You’ll come to notice that the locals wake up pretty early and begin their work for the day. There are a few vegetable vendors who would lay their very fresh vegetables out on jute bags for sale. You’ll also find some of the freshest dairy products being sold in markets here. During the afternoons, you will find children coming home from school. As sunset approaches, the locals begin to pack up and head home, by 7 pm the latest everyone is indoors as a cool breeze and mist sets in, and the town is quiet as ever except for the very few pubs that are open for tourists and ex-pats staying in the area. It is the perfect escape from the tiring city life that awaits you back home.
