Sri Lanka is still the best travel destination of 2019

Sri Lanka maintains the top spot on Lonely Planet’s list of best travel destinations for 2019, despite the Easter Sunday attacks in April; it continues to be an incredible place to visit, by offering an abundance of thrilling experiences and adventures for travellers.

The travel publication noted that many countries have already softened their travel warnings including the USA, UK, and Australia and urged readers to check the latest travel advisories prior to travel.

Sri Lanka made it to the top of this list due to snorkelling reasons including its cuisine that has evolved with the influence of the history and culture of the country. Additionally, train rides from Colombo to the misty hill country, especially the journey from Haputale to Ella, is considered to be amongst the most scenic in the world. Also mentioned as a reason why Sri Lanka is the best travel destination for this year is the beauty of the hills, with lush tea fields and chilly climate combining to create a refreshing escape. Not to be forgotten are the incomparable palm-fringed beaches suited for surfing, snorkelling and for just kicking back and relaxing.

The list of best travel destinations for 2019 also included Germany, Zimbabwe, Panama, and Kyrgyzstantravelers to name a few.
